So there's a new study from Deakin University about Aussie women's sex lives, and half of us have difficulty getting sexual satisfaction.
Guess what the biggest influence on this is?
Stress, yes, and (gasp) poor body image.
The Minnesota Starvation Study also told us that sexual desire is lost when the body perceives the food supply is threatened, it seems the study didn't take this into account. Not surprising really when women trying to lose weight by restricting their food is such a 'normal' activity for women.
It's mostly good news for women though! Jane Ussher, a women's health psych at the University of Western Sydney, says that many women do have issues around sexual desire, especially in heterosexual relationships, and that it's more about the relationship than about the woman. She says there's strong evidence to suggest that desire improves in a new relationship. Interesting....
