Discipline and I are not on speaking terms at the moment, but since I desperately want to restore our relationship, I am featuring the Big D as my word of the day in the A to Z blogging challenge.
Since there are many facets of the word, here is the official
definition of the word Discipline;
-noun
1. training or conditions imposed for the improvement of physical powers, self-control, etc
2. systematic training in obedience to regulations and authority
3. the state of improved behavior, etc, resulting from such training or conditions
4. punishment or chastisement
5. a system of rules for behavior, methods of practice, etc
6. a branch of learning or instruction
7. the laws governing members of a Church
8. a scourge of knotted cords
-verb
9. to improve or attempt to improve the behavior, orderliness, etc, of by training, conditions, or rules
10.to punish or correct
Self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state. I tend to be overly emotional....growing up I was even dubbed the "emotional one"
There is nothing wrong with feelings, but they aren't meant to control your actions and take over. No, feelings are far too flighty for that job.
Everyone knows discipline provides the power to overcome addictions, lose weight, wipe out disorder. If passion is invited to the party along with their buddy, goal; these Three Musketeers can bring real change.
Baby steps, baby. Progressive training. It takes discipline to build discipline.
1. Take a small step
2. Add a little more
3. Keep going
5. You can do it, you can do it, you can do it choo choo...I think I can, I think I can...
Celebrate successes. Acknowledge how strong you are becoming. Set your next goal and build that discipline like a muscle.
Don’t compare yourself to other people. It won’t help. You’ll only find what you expect to find.
I find myself giving up, not because I am lazy....no, I give up because of something shiny that catches my attention.
Distractions are the nemesis to Discipline. Focus. Focus. Focus. Don't let the villain's evil monologue distract you.
